Air traffic Control
- Controls the traffic in between the Airport.
- control towers (including tower, ground control, clearance delivery, and other services), terminal controllers, who control aircraft in a wider area which control aircraft within a small distance
ATC may provide weather advisories, terrain separation, navigation assistance, and other services to pilots, depending on their workload. its not controls all flights .
The International Civil Aviation Organisation is a specialised agency of the United Nations. It codifies the principles and techniques of international air navigation and fosters. the planning and development of international air transport to ensure safe and orderly growth. It‘s headquarters are located in the Quartier International of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Functions of ICAO –
1. The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) supervises the standards and practices of air navigation, its infrastructure.
2. Flight inspection, prevention of unlawful interference and facilitation of border crossing procedures for international civil aviation.
3. It also defines the protocols for air accident investigation followed by signatory agencies of the convention on International Civil Aviation in respective countries.
4. ICAO is active in infrastructure management including Communication, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) systems which employ digital technologies like satellite systems with various levels of automation in order to maintain a seamless global air traffic management system.
FUNCTIONS OF IATA:
1. IATA assigns three letter and two letter codes to airports and airlines which are commonly used worldwide along with ICAO. For Rail & Fly systems IATA also assigns IATA train station codes. For delay codes IATA assigns IATA Delay Codes. IATA provides 2 letter code for airline & 3 letter code for airport.
3. IATA administrates worldwide the Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP) and Cargo Accounts Settlement Systems (CASS) that serves as a facilitator of the sales, reporting and remittance of accredited travel and cargo agencies. Both settlement programmes are ruled by standards and resolutions.
BCAS
A. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, India, was initially set up as a Cell in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in January 1978 on the recommendation of the Pande Committee constituted in the wake of the hijacking of the Indian Airlines flight on 19th September, 1976. The role of the cell was to co-ordinate, monitor, inspect and train personnel in Civil Aviation Security matters.
